What’s not covered?
Here are some examples of when an insurance benefit will not be paid:
- Accidental death is a result of bodily or mental infirmity or disease of any kind.
- Accidental death is a result of or while committing or attempting to commit a criminal offence.
- Accidental death is caused directly or indirectly by the use of any drug, poisonous substance, intoxicant or narcotic, unless taken according to the instruction of your physician.

1. What qualifies as accidental death under the TD Accidental Death Insurance Plan?
A death caused by a bodily injury that occurs solely as a direct result of a violent, sudden and unexpected action from an outside source to an Insured Person and which occurs within 365 days of that accident could qualify under the TD Accidental Death Insurance Plan.
2. Who can I put as my beneficiary?
As the policy owner, you can choose the beneficiary. If a beneficiary is not chosen, the benefit will be paid to your estate.
3. How much is the benefit paid on a covered accidental death for the TD Accidental Death Insurance Plan?
The amount your beneficiary(ies) could receive ranges from $50,000 to $250,000, based on the coverage you select.
Benefits are doubled up to $500,000 if the covered accidental death happens while you are travelling on a common carrier, such as an airplane.
